I'd be interested to know too.

They're another pay a deposit place and most of their pics look pinched off official sites. From their listing: "Do you want to know more and check the actual photos of this finished guitar, pls send us message right now! Do you want to know how we can make it much more similar?"

"For some, the safest thing is to steer clear of these guitars."

It's RareElectricGuitars

I contacted them a couple of weeks back and they sent me to look at photos of their stuff here: http://www.guitarshopgallery.com

It seems like much of the same guitars as REG but their prices are much lower than REG

Their prices are a little lower, but they recently changed them all.

They originally had everything listed as a $50 deposit, no actual numbers. Maybe Aliexpress had a problem with that?

Inquiring about their explorers, she was able to show me that they can indeed make the ESP MX-250 II shape correctly, which means they're either REG or using the same factory, but the quote she gave me was about $40 cheaper than REG sells them for which isn't out of the room of them marking stuff up since they regularly offered me $10-20 off just from talking to them before.

REG quoted me $650 for Neil Young Old Black with real Bigsby while 59 LP Guitar Custom Shop price is $360. Both include shipping. I know REG has a good name for accuracy but I'm wondering if these guys are the same.

I asked REG about this seller on Ali and they said they are absolutely not connected with them, and not to use Ali sellers as the quality is poor.

Well they would say that wouldn't they?

The thing that concerns me the most is that all of the photos on their store site is of the actual brand name guitars - so you have no idea what their guitars look like.

In their description they do say "Do you want to know more and check the actual photos of this finished guitar, pls send us message right now! Do you want to know how we can make it much more similar?"

Jessie, they're lying to you.

I've got further proof they are indeed REG. Do a who.is search on the domain names, you'll find both are registered through GoDaddy, and they both point towards the same name servers (name servers are basically what tells the internet to point a certain domain name at an IP address).

You're more than welcome to look at it here: http://who.is/whois/www.guitarshopgallery.com
http://who.is/whois/www.rareelectricguitars.com

Through my search, I found that there's at least a third (and possibly more) sites that are registered by the same person, including this site: http://k-guitar.net/ Take a look at the bottom and you'll see a link to that "Peerless Electric Guitar" that REG advertises or used to.

Now, beyond the domain trickery there just take a look at some of the photos on the Guitar Shop Gallery website. They are obviously the professional "grade" of photos that REG uses, but on different backdrops and more importantly they do not have the REG watermark on the photo.

Take this purple ESP Explorer with James Hetfield's Eet Fuk inlays: http://www.guitarshopgallery.com/?p=40&album=2&gallery=8
http://www.rareelectricguitar.com/Customized-ESP-MX-220-Explorer-Purple-sale_2063.html

You can't tell me these are not the same guys and have me believe it. They are simply trying to get you to buy from REG to avoid having to pay Aliexpress fees or they want to charge you more.

Heck, I didn't even see the most obvious link.

Go to that http://k-guitar.net and click on Peerless Custom Guitar. Go to any of those guitar listings and it actually tells you to go to RareElectricGuitars.com

I don't doubt that they are connected some how but what confuses me is the difference between the price of the two for the Neil Young copy. REG is $650 and the other is $360.

Could quote possibly be a mistake. Also don't forget that $650 probably includes shipping, their Aliexpress site does not (they charge $65 for shipping which happens to be REG's new price too).

That, and it could quite possibly be when you asked them about it. You said a "real bigsby". Did you ask them that? REG can get real parts, and charges quite a bit for them. That real bigsby could be $100-200 of the price hike easily, even if they're much cheaper in other places in the World.

Each seller price includes shipping. If you do a search on aliexpress, you'll find that on 59 LP Guitar Custom Shop offers it. Their guitar shows a real Bigsby. REG offered me the option. Their price for the real Bigsby is $120 which is included in the price I said.

The guitar in the photos on the Aliexpress page is not what you will get. That's a real Gibson. Just like what Michael said.

REG probably quoted you for a real Bigsby, just like they quoted Michael for real Gibson ABR-1's on his double neck, so that explains $120 in the price like you mentioned. The one on Aliexpress most likely comes with a knock-off Bigsby like most Chinese guitars do.

So we're down to $530 for REG and $360 for Aliexpress. Still a gap, but consider who REG markets towards: First world country buyers in North America and major places like England and several countries in Europe. We know full and well that these Chinese sellers hike the price compared to their local sales (one guy has linked a site called tabao or something quite a bit that shows their local pricing, which is a TON cheaper than even Aliexpress).

Regardless of their tactic here, I just know that after messaging "59 LP Guitar Custom Shop" on Aliexpress they sent me to http://www.guitarshopgallery.com/

http://www.guitarshopgallery.com/ appears to be hosted by the same webserver based on Who.IS information, and is registered by the same individual who has a website that sends people to REG to order. It's owned/operated by the same organization.

I've said time and time again that REG is about $100-150 too high for what they sell. They provide more accurate replicas than anyone else, but the quality just isn't there to justify that markup. Even at $360 for the Aliexpress guitar that's more expensive than most Aliexpress sellers, but it's a lot closer to the quality I would be willing to pay.

I am trying to work with "59 LP Guitar Custom Shop" on an order, and I'll be sure to report back how it goes.
