Most of us are going to want to change the pots in our guitars from those dreaded mini-pots that come stock. Many people think that CTS is their only alternative, other than Alpha pots - but there is another good choice.
Bourns makes a really top quality potentiometer in a full size as well as a mini-pot. They are available in 250k and 500k audio as well as linear taper. The advantage to Bourns over CTS pots is that they use the Asian size coarse spleen shaft, so your Asian knobs will fit these pots. CTS uses the fine spleen USA standard shafts, so you will have to buy new knobs for your Chibson to fit those pots.
Bourns pots are sealed, so there should be no dust getting into them. They come in a standard pot that is just a tad stiffer than CTS, as well as a "frictionless" pot. Personally, I prefer a bit of friction.
Although the knobs will fit the shafts, please note that the holes in the body of your Chibson will probably have to be enlarged a bit to accommodate the new pots. You can either use a reamer, or you can roll up a piece of sandpaper and work it up and down inside the hole to enlarge it. Just remember to test fit often, just so you don't make he hole too large. The pot should fit easily, but not be too loose.
(Hint: Once you have made the hole large enough with a tapered ream, insert the ream into the enlarged hole and mark it by wrapping a piece of tape around it on top of the body. This way, you can ream out the remaining holes quickly without stopping to measure each time. A great time saver. Also, remember to ream the holes from both front and back if the wood on the guitar is thicker. so that you end up with a straight hole, as opposed to a taper.)
Bourns pots tend to be a bit harder to come by, but they can be found on the website: guitarelectronics.com
